Testing audio/video before a meeting

It is important that you test your audio and video at least 10 minutes before going into a meeting, so a ticket into the helpdesk can be submitted and you will be able to go into all meetings prepared. Teams, WebEx and Zoom will allow you to test the audio and video before going into a meeting. If you want to be sure that your audio and video are working before clicking the join meeting link in Outlook Here are the steps in the Teams app:

  1. Click on the 3 dots beside your initials
  2. Hit Settings>Devices, this menu will appear.
  3. Test audio and your microphone by hitting Make a test call.
  4. Towards the bottom of the menu, you will see the video preview. If there is no video ensure there is nothing blocking the camera, or that it’s plugged in if you’re using a USB webcam.

If you are experiencing audio/video issues after your testing the first thing you should do is reboot. If that doesn’t resolve the issue please submit a ticket to helpdesk.
